Researchers from the University of California, Riverside claim to have achieved a breakthrough by capturing a glimpse of a live newborn great white shark for the first time ever.
The discovery is considered significant in solving the mystery of where white sharks give birth, a topic that has long intrigued scientists.
The researchers, including wildlife filmmaker Carlos Gauna and a biology doctoral student, observed the unique shark off the coast of Santa Barbara, California, in July 2023. The newborn great white pup stood out as it was entirely white instead of the typical gray color on the top.
