Why you can never buy front row seats to a Billy Joel concert

Here is Billy Joel, who may not be recording much anymore but he is still very active on the concert trail.

Billy, who is soon ending his residency at Madison Square Garden at around 150 dates, apparently has a policy. He does not allow you to buy tickets the first two rows at any of his concerts. Why?
