What do you think should happen with the Savannah Civic Center?

Savannah residents are invited to attend one of the upcoming open houses and provide feedback for the Civic Center’s future use. The first will be a community-wide open house will be held in the Civic Center Ballroom (301 W Oglethorpe Ave.) tonight from 6 to 7:30 p.m.

Can't attend? Then a virtual meeting will follow on Thursday, May 16, at 6 p.m. if you want to be a part of it, email planning@savannahga.gov and request the Zoom link.

Finally, the city will host another open house on Monday, May 20, at the Armstrong Center (13040 Abercorn St.) from 6 to 7:30 p.m. City officials say these sessions will offer background on the project, updates on assessments of the center and an opportunity for community feedback.

City staff will be compiling the feedback from residents as a part of their recommendation to the city council on what direction to take.

Let's hope they still plan to at least keep and use the Johnny Mercer Theater which gives us an alternative to the larger Enmarket Arena to have more intimate shows and concerts.
