Police and firefighters in Wichita took on a different kind of mission this week, surprising shoppers at Dillons stores with $50 gift cards as part of a community initiative.
Officer Carlos Atondo was tasked with finding a “suspect” in a ball cap. After searching the aisles for 15 minutes, he approached shopper Ken Bishop, presenting him with the unexpected gift.
“Just to make someone’s day—when you see the look on their face, at they are a little concerned, then once they understand—it’s a great time,” Atondo said.
The program, organized by Dillons and the Police and Fire Foundation, aims to distribute thousands of dollars in gift cards to unsuspecting shoppers, with prompts including finding veterans or anyone helping others in the store. Watch!
