Instructions:

If you must travel, keep an extra flashlight, food, and water in your vehicle in case of an emergency. The latest road conditions for the state you are calling from can be obtained by calling 5 1 1. Persons are urged to stay indoors until conditions improve. If you must go outside, dress in layers. Several layers of clothes will keep you warmer than a single heavy coat. Cover exposed skin to reduce your risk of frostbite or hypothermia. Gloves, a scarf, and a hat will keep you from losing your body heat. Persons should consider delaying all travel. If travel is absolutely necessary, drive with extreme caution. Consider taking a winter storm kit along with you, including such items as tire chains, booster cables, flashlight, shovel, blankets and extra clothing. Also take water, a first aid kit, and anything else that would help you survive in case you become stranded.

SCHOOLS:

After consultation with Emergency Management regarding projected snow and inclement weather, BCSD will have a half-day on Tuesday, January 21, 2025, and an eLearning and remote workday on Wednesday, January 22, 2025 (assuming electrical and internet utilities are functioning). District buildings will be closed. All afterschool activities on Tuesday and Wednesday are cancelled.

A decision regarding Thursday, January 23, 2025, will be communicated by 1:30 p.m. on Wednesday (after Emergency Management’s projection of road conditions).

Half-day dismissal schedule Tuesday, January 21:

• Elementary: 11:45 a.m.

• Middle and High School: 12:45 p.m.

Your child’s teacher and/or school will provide additional information about eLearning.

Please know BCSD doesn’t make these decisions lightly. We have many factors to consider especially the timing of inclement weather that prohibits the safe travel of school buses.

Please stay safe and continue to monitor the district’s websites and social media channels for the latest communications, as well as local media outlets for weather conditions.
