Selena Gomez has spoken out against the deportation of undocumented immigrants, breaking down in tears in an emotional Instagram video. In the video, Gomez expressed her frustration and sadness over the administration’s handling of the situation, saying “All my people are getting attacked, the children. I don’t understand.” Gomez’s grandmother was a Mexican migrant who chased the American Dream, making the issue personal for her.
The 'Emilia Pérez' star chokes up as she tells fans, 'I wish I could do something' and, 'I'm so sorry.' Over the weekend, nearly a thousand people were detained as part of the Trump administration's much-publicized mass deportation efforts for illegal immigrants.
“All my people are getting attacked, the children. I don’t understand,” Gomez shared in an emotional and tearful video posted on her Instagram Stories, which she has now deleted. “I’m so sorry, I wish I could do something but I can’t. I don’t know what to do. I’ll try everything, I promise.”
Following the backlash, Gomez said in a since-deleted post, “Apparently it’s not ok to show empathy for people.”
