A 10-year-old boy is still recovering in the hospital after putting his sister's life before his own in a moment of terror.
Andre "Trey" Howard III was getting doughnuts after school with his dad and sister on Friday when they were all suddenly caught up in the chaotic scenes of the the plane that crashed in northeast Pennsylvania.
As debris from the plane fell to the ground, Trey's dad says that the young boy dove on top of his sister, potentially saving her life. As Trey protected his sister, he was struck in the head with a piece of flying metal debris. He had to undergo emergency brain surgery, but is now in stable condition at the Children's Hospital of Philadelphia.
Trey is one of many victims who were injured when a medical transport plane crashed along Cottman Avenue Friday evening. Mayor Cherelle Parker confirms at least 22 people were injured during the crash, in addition to the seven people who were killed.
An investigation into the cause of the crash continues as investigators sift through debris, and begin to analyze data after discovering the plane's "blackbox," which could reveal vital information.
