The White House press secretary said this week that egg prices continue to drop. The Department of Agriculture says slowing bird flu issues and lower demand for eggs has brought prices down more than 57% since a record high of $8.17 on March 3. The last time I priced them, 18 eggs at Walmart were $9.17 and a dozen eggs was just over $5.
Egg inventories are up because people don't want to pay the high prices, and that has led to a steep drop in their prices.
However...the USDA says those shark declines in prices have not always been reflected at store shelves--though they're coming--but that may further keep demand for eggs lower.
