Forget the big bad wolf! A doorbell camera in Ave Maria, Florida captured two gators climbing up to the front door of a home and attempting to go inside. Instagram account @mattdevittweather posted the footage, which shows one gator scratching at the front door while another lags behind.
This porch-camera footage, captured in the community of Ave Maria, shows a large alligator clumsily trying to scale a front door while apparently trying to gain entry into a home, as another gator watches from the porch.
“Welcome to Florida... where you might see gators casually climbing up the front door of your house,” joked Matt Devitt of WINK News.
Devitt's followers chimed in with astute observations. One woman remarked, “I see a 'for sale' sign in front of that condo soon.”
Another response: “Thank goodness the owner didn’t open the door!”
One more: “That’s why some people call Florida Jurassic Park.”
These types of incidents are rare, but alligators generate headlines fairly regularly in Florida.
